Shopping

Stylish in Seattle

From local vendors to luxurious designer showrooms, Seattle has endless places to shop.

Major department stores, outdoor shopping centers, and outlet collections with hundreds of designer brands—the Seattle area has it all when it comes to iconic style, world-class fashion, and unique gifts.

Downtown’s walkable retail district has hundreds of stores for endless variety. The flagship Nordstrom department store carries designer apparel, shoes, beauty products, and even a rotating pop-up shop featuring exclusive fashions and goods from designers around the world. Major brands here include Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent. Shoppers can enjoy additional offerings like an in-store lounge with cocktails and small bites, a full-service day spa, and a team of beauty stylists and personal shoppers.

Across the street, the recently remodeled Pacific Place has four floors of galleries, local brands, and luxury retailers for one-of-a-kind gifts, and nearby Westlake Center features discount retailers of famous department stores like Nordstrom Rack and Saks OFF 5TH. A five-minute walk west is historic Pike Place Market, where hundreds of local artisans sell everything from handcrafted jewelry to unique art.

Outside of downtown, other flagship stores and shopping destinations fit all types of styles. Seattle’s renowned sporting and outdoor gear brand REI is based in the area and has a multi-level flagship store in South Lake Union, complete with an interior climbing wall. Filson, the American heritage brand, fills its SoDo headquarters with rugged jackets, button-down classics, and durable luggage. And open-air shopping center University Village, about a 20-minute drive or 30-minute light rail ride northeast of downtown, offers a mix of locally owned stores and internationally famous brands among flower-lined paths, water features, restaurants, and open spaces to sit and relax. Find local brands like glassybaby (artisan blown-glass candleholders), Eddie Bauer (casual clothing), and Fireworks (whimsical gifts) alongside recognizable names like Apple and Levi’s.

Within a one-hour drive of Seattle, two more outdoor shopping centers are musts for any fashion-seekers. Tulalip’s Seattle Premium Outlets, a 40-minute drive away, has more than 125 brand-name stores, including Burberry, Cole Haan, Fjällräven, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Lacoste. North Bend Premium Outlets, a 30-minute drive away, has 30 additional stores, including outposts for Gap, Coach, and Nike.

And just across Lake Washington, about a 20-minute drive from downtown Seattle, the city of Bellevue offers more shopping options: The Shops at The Bravern offers a European-inspired experience with storefronts from major luxury brands like Gucci, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Prada. Nearby, The Bellevue Collection has more than 200 stores among its three buildings, including recognized brands such as Chanel, Tory Burch, Burberry, and Ted Baker London.
